Paula Ourso: Chapter Director

Paula has actively volunteered for WOPB events since joining in August of 2023. Going forward, she is interested in participating in educational talks and presentations about the value of natives in the landscape. Paula has a GOLD certified Louisiana Native Habitat in her yard and is interested in developing a functional seed bomb for her chapter.

She has a Masters in Fine Arts and is a retired Art Elementary School teacher. She is an experienced Ceramics potter.

Paula’s favorite:
Turk’s Cap: Malvaviscus arboreus

My favorite native plant is a shrub called Turks Cap.  It blooms in my yard from late April to November with bright red flowers that attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators. I love to walk out my front door and dodge the  hummingbirds that dive bomb this plant.
