Chenee Roheim is a master gardener and serves on the St. Tammany Master Gardener Scholarship Committee. She is a lifelong gardener and has come fairly recently to appreciate native species. Chenee is, and has been for a very long time, active in 4-H programs, and is currently the President of the St. Tammany 4-H Foundation Board and the Southeast District Livestock Board, and as well serves as Chairperson of the St. Tammany Parish 4-H Fall Fling for goat and sheep.

Louisiana Iris
“I like the Louisiana iris. It thrives in wet, wild places, swamps that demand resilience. It’s bold in color, from deep purples to fiery reds, and stands out. The Louisiana iris isn’t delicate, but it’s beautiful in a strong, grounded way. It reflects a mix of toughness and grace—rooted in its environment but not defined by limits. That’s the kind of energy I’d want to carry.”
