Elise Read, Secretary
Elise joined WOPB in 2022, while it was still a seedling chapter, eager to learn and support the mission, having developed a love for gardening over many years. Her appreciation for the benefits of native flora and fauna and the ecosystems they serve continues to grow. She enjoys sharing her gardening experience and knowledge, and is actively involved in the community promoting environmentally appropriate and sustainable development. Elise volunteered to be WOPB’s secretary and wrote its bylaws tailoring them to its unique needs. She assists with the Louisiana Native Plant Society’s LA Certified Habitat Program. Her property is a LA Certified Habitat at the Gold level. Reelected to WOPB’s board of directors in 2023, as Secretary, Elise is currently involved in WOPB’s work group addressing Plant Rescue projects and Nature Walks, etc. She is also assisting statewide efforts to craft native species friendly Weed ordinances. Elise’s skills and experience are proving to be invaluable for WOPB. Thank you, Elise!
